MADURAI: A 40-year-old man was arrested in Madurai on Tuesday night for uploading and sharing child pornography videos and photos on social media sites.
The accused has been identified as Kumar of Arapalayam. He was arrested based on information from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children and the cybercrime police.
The Madurai South all-woman police registered a case against him under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act.
This is the first time that a person has been arrested in Madurai district for sharing and uploading child porn content since the Tamil Nadu police recently began crackdown on people involved in distributing child pornography. Earlier, some men were arrested in districts like Chennai, Trichy and Coimbatore for sharing child pornography.
