Pune: Some women co-passengers in a general compartment of Solapur-Gondia Maharashtra Express on Sunday helped a woman deliver a baby after the train arrived at the Pune station around 11.40pm.
“Four personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) were escorting the train. After it reached Pune, they got information that Rani Suresh Sonavane (20), a resident of Palshi, had gone into labour,” a senior RPF officer said.
The RPF personnel requested some women co-passengers to help her. “After all the male passengers disembarked from the coach, the women told Sonavane to lie on one of the seats and she delivered a baby before the doctors could arrive,” the officer said.
‘All norms followed’
The Pune rail division on Tuesday iterated all norms were followed to install the hoarding at Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk, after a group protested against it. “CoEP approved its design,” Manoj Jhawar, PRO of Pune rail division, said.
