BENGALURU: Two bike-borne men opened fire at a 25-year-old woman with a country-made pistol in front a women's PG accommodation in Manjunath Layout, Munnekolala, southeast Bengaluru on Tuesday evening.
Sub hashree Priyadarshini, who is from Odisha, works with Nimhans and has been living in Bengaluru for two years. Around 6pm, she was returning to her paying guest accommodation when two men allegedly accosted her and opened fire at her stomach with a 7.65mm country-made pistol before speeding away. Another resident of the PG facility rushed Subhashree to hospital and police were alerted.
Police sources said while fleeing, the shooter's mobile fell from his pocket, which was caught on CCTV cameras. The woman is out of danger, Marathahalli police said. DCP (Whitefield) MN Anucheth said two teams have been formed to nab the accused.
Police suspect someone known to the woman may have shot her. "The shooters waited for her in front of the PG before opening fire," they said.
