At the grand finale of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour, which also marks her 10th anniversary as the brand’s ambassador, Priyanka Chopra opens up about her current morning ritual, favourite Netflix shows to binge on (probably the same as yours), and the life lessons she’s learnt over the last 20 years
Last Saturday, the 15th edition of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour, held in collaboration with the FDCI, commenced in Mumbai with a grand fashion show. Titled The Pride Of India, the grand finale featured the works of 14 renowned Indian designers on the runway, including Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Manish Malhotra, Raghavendra Rathore, Namrata Joshipura, and Gaurav Gupta, among others. The event was also attended by Priyanka Chopra, who has been the brand ambassador for Blenders Pride for 10 years now. Dressed in a stunning black Tarun Tahiliani gown, Chopra described the feeling of being present at that stage as that of homecoming. We caught up with Chopra to discuss what’s new with her, from her current morning routine to her favourite films, and life lessons she’s picked up along her journey. Here’s what we found out.

Believe it or not, Chopra’s mornings are not all that different from most of ours. Like us, she relies on her phone to get up to speed on what’s happening in the world, and considers coffee to be her power potion. She likes to dress according to her mood, but since she’s a global star, her OOTD is decided not just by how she’s feeling that day, but also after with discussions with her stylists. Some of the labels she’s currently crushing on? Burberry, Bottega Veneta, and Jacquemus.
On days when she’s feeling low, she peps herself up with an inspirational slogan: “If you don’t get up and go get the day, someone else will...life doesn’t wait for anyone,” she tells us. If you ask us, this motto perfectly explains Chopra’s versatile filmography. The actor, who has taken on some impressive roles in the past—like with Barfi! (2012) and Mary Kom (2014)—reveals that she likes to evaluate a script from an overall perspective before signing it, and is usually very instinctive about her choices. Just this year, Chopra has announced that she will be taking on the role of Maa Anand Sheela in an upcoming biopic, playing a superwoman in Robert Rodriguez’s We Can Be Heroes, and co-starring with Rajkummar Rao on a Netflix adaptation of one of her favourite books, White Tiger.
The emergence of OTT platforms excites her as an actor and producer, because it brings new expectations and audiences, which falls perfectly in line with her goal of pushing the boundaries and exploring uncharted territories. And between shooting for films, fighting for social causes, and representing brands, Chopra still finds time to keep up with her favourite web series. Ask her what she’s bingeing on right now, and she responds, “Sex Education on Netflix, and The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel on Prime Video.”
In her list favourite films from recent times, feature Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy (2018), Ayushmann Khurrana’s Badhaai Ho (2018), Jojo Rabbit (2020) and unsurprisingly, Bong Joon Ho’s Oscar-winning Parasite, the first foreign language film to win the Best Picture award at the illustrious awards ceremony. As a woman of colour breaking into Hollywood, Chopra is aware of the importance of this milestone moment. “Parasite’s win at the Oscars is not just a win for South Korea, but for non-English language films from across the world. It proves that the world is committed to and supportive of good cinema, and that languages do transcend borders. As people and as entertainers, we are one through entertainment. Our craft has the power to transcend borders and languages, and Parasite demonstrates exactly that,” she says.
Reflecting on her 20-year long journey since she was crowned Miss World in 2000, Chopra says, “If I did anything differently, I wouldn’t be who I am. My mistakes have been a big part of my journey, and have shaped me into becoming the woman I am today. We all make mistakes and the one big lesson I have learnt is to forgive myself for them. I believe what you do after your mistakes or failures defines your character, and I’ve always focussed on that.”
