A woman woke up to find her former partner in her bedroom during the early hours a court heard.

Eddie Graham James Clarke still had a key to the Corinne Richards' home in Heol Dirion, Colwyn Bay and had let himself into the house at about 3.50am on December 7.

The 32-year-old argued with Ms Richards and grabbed her by the throat at one stage the judge at  Caernarfon Crown Court heard.

Clarke, of Ffordd Dawel, Colwyn Bay, was said to be drunk and smelt of cannabis and accused her of befriending a man on social media.

Ryan Rothwell, prosecuting, said she was prevented from leaving the room by Clarke holding onto her arms.

While holding her Clarke had nearly bitten her on the cheek he added.

She managed to get out of the room and was able to call police. Clarke fled the house before officers arrived.

Arrested some days later Clarke denied the allegations but returned to the woman's house in an agitated state. Told to leave he stole a front door key.

Appearing from custody Clarke admitted charges of assault and theft. He also admitted possessing a small quantity of cocaine and cannabis.

Defence counsel Simon Killeen said he had been in a relationship with Ms Richards for a decade and "can't live with her and can't live without her".

He was jailed for six months.
