Eight students have been rushed to Campbelltown Hospital, while the remaining four are being treated at Liverpool Hospital.
'It was a very chaotic scene when we arrived today, we had multiple paramedics working together to help a number of patients as quickly as we could,' said Ambulance acting inspector Tatalia Noor.
'With incidents as large as this, it was vital to account for any person that had been injured, so they could be assessed and treated appropriately,' she said.
'Paramedics did an amazing job assessing and treating such a large group, to ensure that those that needed to be transported, could be.'
SafeWork NSW is currently investigating the incident.
Parents of students were frantically contacting the school for information after first hearing about it on social media.
The school has students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

A man whose daughter attends the school told The Daily Telegraph she was on the scaffolding when the collapse happened.
'She had cuts and bruises… my wife rang to say she's OK,' the man said.
'They said they felt it wobbling and were told it's alright… and then it fell.
