Death toll in Padra accident rises to 13

Vadodara: Grief gripped Ranu, Bhoj and Vadu villages of Padra taluka on Sunday as funeral processions of 11 people, who died in an accident between two trucks near Ranu village, were taken out together. Funeral processions of two other deceased were taken out in Fatehgunj area.
The death toll in the accident reached 13 as 17-year-old girl Rizwana Malek succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Sunday at SSG Hospital.
At Ranu village, the atmosphere was filled with sadness as final rites of seven persons were performed together. One woman from Bhoj village had died while three other deceased were from Vadu. Four passengers continue to be under treatment at SSG Hospital.
On Saturday midnight police registered a case of culpable homicide but not amounting to murder at Padra police station. However, the driver of the dumping truck is still out of police reach.
