Chandigarh: Met predicts light rain around Feb 27

CHANDIGARH: Dry weather with occasional thunderclouds in the first half of the week and possibility of thundery development and light rainfall towards February 27 due to approaching western disturbance is what the Met department has forecast for the week. According to weathermen, a gradual rise in maximum and minimum temperature is expected next week.
The department in its forecast on the website stated, “In view of the movement of a western disturbance north-eastwards across western Himalayan region, weather will be mostly dry in Punjab and Haryana including Chandigarh during the next three to four days with occasional development of thunderclouds. Gradual rise in temperatures (maximum and minimum) is likely during this period. Weather conditions are likely to change around February 27 in view of the approach of another western disturbance leading to rain/thundershowers in Punjab, Haryana, including Chandigarh afterwards.” Update in this regard will follow, Chandigarh Met director Surender Paul stated.
The weather took a Uturn on Sunday afternoon with thunderclouds covering the city after forenoon. The winds accompanied the clouds but the sun showed up shortly. The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 25.7°C, one degree above normal while on Saturday the maximum temperature was recorded at 25°C, one degree above normal. On Friday, the maximum temperature in the city observatory was recorded at 23.2°C.
