PUNE: After it came to light that a fraudulent website was advertising recruitment in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for posts of constable, the Railway authorities warned job seekers not to fall for such scams.
Those seeking a government job are easy prey and get trapped in such scams.
The Ministry of Railways wrote a letter on February 20 to all zones to alert job seekers via media channels about fake advertisements on social media for recruitment of 20,000 constables of Railway Protection Force.
RPF DIG Santosh N Chandran, who is a member of the Railway Board, said, “There are some websites that are advertising jobs related to Railway Protection Force. These are unofficial websites which have no relation with the Railway Board. The board has not issued any advertisement regarding these jobs in RPF. Any advertisement related to RPF jobs will be published on the official website of the Ministry of Railways.”
The advertisement in question appears on a website placementstore.com. They have also circulated it on social media and WhatsApp, with April 30 as the deadline.
“The advertisement is totally fake and action will be taken. The Cyber Cell of RPF found the advertisement, which has been widely circulated on social media platforms. A complaint has been lodged with Delhi Cyber Cell,” said a senior RPF officer of Central Railway.
A senior official of Central Railways said job seekers must become aware of such websites. “The RPF and Railway Board will not be responsible if anyone is trapped in the net. We always publish advertisements on our official website,” said the officer.
“These websites dupe people with such announcements. When people enquire, they (fraudsters) ask for the job seeker’s details. Some have even paid a heavy amount to get jobs in the Railways. People are requested not to give any details like bank account, date of birth, insurance policy number or Aadhaar number. They should not even call on the phone number given on the website,” said the officer.
