A sixth person has died in the coronavirus outbreak in Italy, state broadcaster RAI reported on Monday. It said the person was a cancer patient in the northern town of Brescia.

The World Health Organization (WHO) no longer has a process for declaring a pandemic, but the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak remains an international emergency, a spokesman said on Monday.
The Geneva-based agency, which declared the H1N1 swine flu outbreak a pandemic in 2009, declared the novel coronavirus that emerged in Wuhan, China in December a public health emergency of International concern, known as a PHEIC, on Jan. 30.
Virus epicentre Wuhan revokes announcement easing lockdown [Reuters]
An announcement that the Chinese city of Wuhan would relax some of its travel restrictions and allow some people to leave was made without authorisation and has been revoked, the local government said on Monday.
The city at the epicentre of a coronavirus outbreak that has already killed more than 2,500 people said it would continue to impose strict controls over its borders in order to prevent the virus from spreading further.
The viral outbreak that began in China has infected more than 79,000 people globally.
The World Health Organization has named the illness COVID-19, referring to its origin late last year and the coronavirus that causes it.
The latest figures reported by each government's health authority as of Monday in Beijing:
-Mainland China: 2,592 deaths among 77,150 cases, mostly in the central province of Hubei
-Hong Kong: 74 cases, 2 deaths
-Macao: 10 cases
-Japan: 838 cases, including 691 from a cruise ship docked in Yokohama, 4 deaths
- South Korea: 763 cases, 7 deaths

Bahrain's first coronavirus case detected

Coronavirus outbreak in Italy cuts short Venice Carnival
The annual Venice Carnival was on Sunday cancelled two days earlier than scheduled due to the coronavirus outbreak in northern Italy. This comes even as the country reported the third death from the deadly infection on Sunday, reported Deutsche Welle. The health chief of the Lombardy region, Giulio Gallera said the victim was an elderly woman from a town of east Milan, who was also suffering from cancer. According to Gallera, the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Lombardy has reached 112, bringing the total number of cases across the country to over 150. Cases of the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in five Italian regions namely, Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Piedmont, reported Sputnik. The authorities of Lombardy and Veneto have decided to ban all public events, including cultural and sports ones.

Mainland China had 409 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Sunday, the National Health Commission said on Monday, down from 648 reported a day earlier. The number of new deaths, however, rose to 150 from 97 over the same period, it said in a statement. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases on the mainland is now 77,150, and 2,592 have died from the outbreak, the commission said.
Some restrictions imposed on export of medical equipment to China: MEA
India said some restrictions were imposed on export of certain medical equipment to China in view of their short supply within the country and asserted that precautions taken by authorities were in accordance with the WHO's advisory on coronavirus. The comments by the Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs came after China raised the issue of India restricting export of certain medical supplies to it following the coronavirus epidemic in that country. MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said the precautions taken by India are in accordance with the WHO's advisory about the outbreak of coronavirus infection. He said some restrictions have been imposed on the export of certain medical equipment to China in view of shortage of their supply in India too.
Israel confirms second coronavirus case among cruise returnees
Israel confirmed its second case of the new coronavirus Sunday -- a second returned citizen from the stricken cruise ship Diamond Princess. The first case was announced on Friday. The two were among 11 Israelis allowed off the ship in Yokohama, Japan and flown home after initially testing negative. All were placed in isolation for a 14 day period at the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv. Earlier Sunday Israeli authorities ordered nearly 200 pupils into home quarantine after they were in proximity to South Korean tourists carrying the coronavirus.
New Zealand extends ban on arrivals from China on coronavirus fears
New Zealand has extended a ban on arrivals from mainland China into a fourth week to contain the risk of exposure to the coronavirus, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Monday. The ban has been extended by a further eight days and would be reviewed after that, Ardern told a news conference. New Zealand so far has no confirmed cases of the virus in the country.

South Korea has reported 161 new cases of the new virus that has spread rapidly in the region surrounding its southwest city of Daegu, bringing its total number of cases to 763. Officials on Monday also confirmed two more deaths of virus patients, bringing its death toll to seven. South Korea's president said Sunday that he was putting his country on its highest alert for infectious diseases, ordering officials to take ``unprecedented, powerful'' steps to stem the spread of the outbreak. The coronavirus that causes the COVID-19 illness has infected tens of thousands of people, mostly in China.
Trump administration backs off sending coronavirus patients to Alabama
The Trump administration has backed off plans to quarantine patients from the Diamond Princess cruise ship stricken with coronavirus at a federal facility in Alabama, the state's governor and a U.S. senator said on Sunday. The news came as worry grew over the spread outside China of the sometimes fatal virus, with a spike in the number of cases found in South Korea, Iran and Italy. Experts were baffled over outbreaks with no clear link to China.
