Panchkula: Louts crash SUV into girl's scooter

PANCHKULA: The local police booked two youngsters on Sunday for harassing a girl after crashing their SUV into her scooter.
An eyewitness account suggests that around 1pm, the young men in the rashly drivern SUV took a sharp turn towards the Sector 8 parking lot to hit a scooter, knocking off its riders, a girl from Panchkula. She had a narrow escape. The injuries could have been far more serious.
When the girl raised an alarm the men in the SUV used fould language against her before disappearing into a a beer bar in Sector 8. Some the residents who were out in a protest against the paid-parking system witnessed the entire scene and rushed to the girl's recuse. They also spoke up against sexual harassment and confronted the louts.
After heated arguments with the SUV gang, these protesting residents rang up police control room and called a patrol squad to the spot.
Later in the evening, based on the girl's complaint, police registered a case under sections 354 (criminal force to outrage a woman's modesty) and 509 (lewd words, gestures, or acts targeted at woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the women's police station and begain investigation.
