YAD burns DGP’s effigy over remarks on Kartarpur Sahib Corridor

Ludhiana: Youth Akali Dal (YAD) leaders and workers on Sunday staged a protest against director-general of police (Punjab) Dinkar Gupta, and burnt his effigy over his remarks on the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. The YAD workers gathered in large numbers and also shouted slogans against the Congress government and the DGP.
Meanwhile, YAD district president Gurdeep Singh Gosha said, “The statement of DGP Dinkar Gupta that the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor has the potential of making terrorists is highly condemnable, and has hurt the religious sentiments of the entire Sikh community. On the one hand, Sikhs from all over world are rejoicing over the opening of this historic corridor, which has huge importance for them, while on the other hand, irresponsible people like DGP Gupta are making such foolish statements. Earlier, chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh has also given several statements against the opening of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, and now the DGP’s statement on the same lines has proved that the Congress government never wanted to open the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.”
Gosha added, “Captain Amarinder Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu, and other Congress ministers have visited Kartarpur Sahib, and the DGP Punjab should clarify whether these people too have become terrorists or not. The Congress government and officials like DGP Gupta, who are close to this anti-Sikh government have always been hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community, but now it will no more be tolerated, and they will be given a befitting reply, regardless of any consequences for us. DGP Gupta, who is sitting on such a high post, should have at least kept the dignity of his rank, and he should have avoided making such a statement, which has pained the Sikh community.”
The protest was joined by Varun Malhotra, Rubal Dhall, Ramandeep Singh Khalsa, Amandeep Singh, Paras, Jaswant Singh Jassi, Nikhil Chabbra, Ishan Sharma, Karanvir Dugri, Nirbhai Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Tarandeep Singh Sunny, and several others.
