Two women have been left fighting for their lives after being hit by a van.
The pair were left with "serious, life-threatening injuries" after being struck by a Mercedes Sprinter Van as they crossed Market Street in Abergele on Monday morning.
The 60-year-old driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and has been released under investigation, police said.
An appeal for witnesses has now been launched.
A police spokesman said: "Shortly after 11am police were notified of a collision involving a white coloured Mercedes Sprinter Van and two female pedestrians on Market Street.

"Both women were taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance where they remain with serious, life threatening injuries."
Sergeant Emlyn Hughes of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The area was quite busy around the time of the collision so we are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or anybody who may have been travelling and who may have dash cam to come forward.”
Forensic teams were also called to investigate the circumstances of the crash, with the road closed off in both directions and traffic diverted from the scene for several hours.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to a reported road traffic accident on Market Street, Abergele today, Monday 24 February at approximately 10.56am.
"We sent a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and two emergency ambulances.
"Two patients were taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital.”
The road was re-opened just before 2pm.
