Rahul Gandhi's education began at the Modern School in Delhi, one of the most prestigious educational institutions in India. He completed his early schooling under the guidance of his grandmother Indira Gandhi, who was then working as the Prime Minister of the nation.


This was the beginning of the development of Rahul Gandhi's interest in Indian politics. After Modern School, Rahul Gandhi was briefly educated at St. Columbia School in New Delhi. The Gandhi family places great emphasis on the quality of education.

Rahul Gandhi's education was disturbed when he joined the Doon School in Dehradun from 1981 to 1983. It was the same school as his father Rajiv Gandhi had gone to complete his schooling. After the assassination of his grandmother Indira Gandhi, Rahul had to leave school for security reasons. He homeschooled with his sister Priyanka as it was not safe for the Gandhi family at that time.

Rahul Gandhi is incredibly talented in rifle shooting. On sports quota, he was admitted to St. Stephen's College, where he started his graduation in 1989. After finishing his first-year exams, Rahul Gandhi left college to study at Howard, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. He was admitted to a graduate program at Harvard University.


This year was the most difficult time in Rahul Gandhi's entire life as his father Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. Rahul left Harvard University after one year due to his father's death.

He joined Rollins College in Florida in 1991. He graduated from the same college with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994. Due to imminent security threats with the Gandhi family, Rahul Gandhi earned his higher education under the name of Raul Vinci. His real identity was known only to security agencies and a handful of college officials. Rahul Gandhi's educational journey went on to Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. He joined Trinity College in 1994 and completed a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) degree in developmental studies.

Before joining politics, Rahul Gandhi worked as a consultant in a London-based management consultancy firm. He worked in this organization, Monitor Group, for 3 years. After that, he decided to return to his country, India. He started an outsourcing firm Backups PVT Limited in Mumbai and worked for a long time as chairperson of the company. After gaining much experience in foreign and domestic trade practices, he decided to enter the political arena of India.
