Are you sick of hanging out socks on the clothesline? Mum reveals her clever time-saving laundry trick - and it costs just $3

  • An Australian mother has found a clever use for her $3 Kmart laundry basket
  • She slots just-washed socks and undies through the gaps of the plastic basket
  • With air getting to them on both sides of the gap they are dried very quickly
  • Plenty of homemakers were excited to try the cheap 'hack' for themselves

An Australian mother has invented a clever use for her $3 plastic laundry basket that will dry your socks and intimates without having to peg them onto a clothesline.

The woman shared an image of her Kmart basket with newly-washed underwear and small apparel secured through the holes.

'So if you have lots of little socks and jocks in your washing this is how I use my washing basket to dry mine,' she said in the caption.

'It saves a lot of stuffing around with lots of pegs.'

Separating each item so there is enough space in between for air to flow through, plenty of homemakers were surprised they'd never thought to try the ingenious trick before.

'My mind is blown. Now I don't have to bother trying to hang them up with the larger items of clothing,' one woman said.

'What a great idea! I'd put something heavy in the middle of the basket so it doesn't blow away in the wind,' said another.

A third added: 'Maybe I'll finally be able to convince my partner to help out with the washing now that it's so easy'.

The basket filled with socks can be placed either inside or outside to dry, making it a good wet weather option if the sun refuses to shine.

You'll need to push the clothing through the gaps securely so they don't fall out of the basket but it's a small price to pay for the time-saving habit.
