Manipur board asks for BJP’s symbol, Nehru’s negative traits

IMPHAL: The political science paper of the Class XII state board examinations in Manipur has become a political football, thanks to two questions — “Draw the election symbol of Bharatiya Janata Party” and “Examine any four negative traits of Nehru’s approach to nation building”.
Opposition parties on Saturday accused the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur, for trying to promote BJP and encourage Nehru-bashing. PCC spokesperson Kh Joykishan said the questions were part of an attempt to instil a certain political mindset among students. Council chairman L Mahendra Singh claimed neither question was out of the syllabus.
State BJP general secretary N Nimbus Singh said it was “relevant” to ask students about the “negative traits of Nehru’s approach to nation building” because he was the country’s first PM.
