Sunny skies lift spirits of residents

Ludhiana: Residents continued to enjoy pleasant weather in the city as above normal temperatures were witnessed in Ludhiana on Sunday. The Met department predicts dry weather in the city for the next two days. As the sun remained in the sky for most parts of the day, its impact was witnessed on the maximum temperature in the city, as it was recorded at 25.6 degrees (three degrees above normal). On Saturday, the maximum temperature in city was 24.2 degrees (a degree above normal).
The minimum temperature in the city on Sunday was recorded on the higher side at 12.6 degrees (four degrees above normal, and 1 degree more than a day earlier). As residents enjoyed the warm weather in the city on Sunday, the Met department has good and bad news for them. A Met department official at Chandigarh said mainly clear sky was expected in the city until Tuesday, whereas generally cloudy sky was likely on Wednesday and Thursday. He added that the weather forecast for Friday and Saturday is ‘generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunderstorm’.
The Met official further said there were chances of a rise in the maximum temperature in the next two days, and after that it might fall. He added that the minimum temperature was also expected to rise in the next three to four days. As per the Met department website, the maximum temperature was expected to rise to 26 degrees until Tuesday, and then fall to 22 degrees until Saturday, whereas the night temperature may fall to 12 degrees till Tuesday, and then rise to 15 degrees until Friday.
Meanwhile, residents rejoiced the warm weather prevailing in city. “After it rained recently, we thought winter is here to stay, which would make us suffer further, but the sun that has been shining for most part of the day has warmed up the weather again. As it was Sunday, I spent quality time at home and enjoyed walking under the warm sun in the garden,” said Parminder Singh, a businessman from Model Town Extension.
