First Lady Melania Trump has arrived in India along with US President Donald Trump for their maiden visit to the country on February 24. The couple was received at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The First Lady of US dazzled in white as she arrived in India oboard Air Force One with her husband. She wore a pristine white jumpsuit from Atelier Caito for Herve Pierre.

The ensemble featured saddle shoulders, a collared neckline and button details on the sleeves. Melania also added a pop of colour to the ensemble by pairing it with a green and gold sash which was also by the same designer.

But did you know that the sash has an incredible Indian connection?

The sash, according to the designer, is made out of green silk and gold metallic thread. The vintage piece was apparently cut in an early century Indian textile document, which the designer found in Paris through collectors.

To make the sash, the designer used the border which was the most interesting piece he could use as it was a vintage piece, the designer revealed in the Instagram post.

The First Lady rounded off the look white stilettos, pink lips, middle-parted open locks, kohled eyes with heavy eyeliner and subtle make-up.

After arriving in India, both Donald Trump and Melania Trump accompanied PM Modi to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Sabarmati Ashram. The couple also spinned the Charkha at Sabarmati Ashram.
