Nagpur: The BJP will stage an agitation at all tehsil offices against the
Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government on Tuesday to protest its failure to provide relief to farmers, attacks on women and stoppage of
development works.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, former guardian minister
Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that the government had promised a relief of Rs25,000 per hectare to farms and Rs50,000 per hectare to orchards for crop damage. “However, farmers are not even getting the relief sanctioned by the governor. Earlier, MVA leaders said that they would give a complete loan waiver to farmers but later put a cap of Rs2 lakh. The government has fooled the farmers and BJP will take it to task for that,” he added.
Bawankule claimed that crime had increased by 60% in the tenure of MVA as compared to the BJP government. “A young woman was torched in Hinganghat and a Prahar activist was shot dead in Akola. Such alarming incidents are taking place every day across the state,” he said.
Bawankule, who was energy minister for five years, lauded his successor Nitin Raut for proposing to provide free power to domestic consumers using less than 100 units. “It is unfortunate that finance minister Ajit Pawar is against this. We fully support Raut and this government should allocate the required funds from the budget so that he can fulfil his promise,” he said.
The ex-MLA praised chief minister Uddhav Thackeray for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR) but said that he should also pay attention to development of the state.
