CBSE 10th Class English Paper: Sample paper and marking scheme

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold the class 10 English examination on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.
The CBSE class 10 English Language and Literature (Code no. 184) theory exam will be of 80 marks and the total duration of the exam will be three hours. The English exam will be conducted from 10.30 am to 01.30 pm.
Candidates who are appearing for CBSE class 12 English examination are advised to read more to check the question paper pattern, sample paper and previous year question paper.
CBSE class 10 English question paper pattern
The CBSE class 10 English question paper has three sections as follows — Reading Comprehension, Writing Skill and Grammar, and Literature Textbook and Supplementary Reading Text. The first section Reading Comprehension carries 20 marks, section B Writing Skill and Grammar is of 30 marks and the section C Supplementary Reading Text carries 30 marks.
Reading Comprehension
Conceptual Understanding, decoding Analyzing, inferring, interpreting and vocabulary.
Writing Skill and Grammar
Creative expression of an opinion, reasoning, justify, illustrating, appropriacy of style and tone, using appropriate format and fluency, applying conventions, using integrated structures with accuracy and fluency.
Literature Textbook and Supplementary Reading Text
Recalling, reasoning, appreciating, applying literary conventions extrapolating, illustrating and justifying etc. Extracting relevant information, identifying the central theme and subthemes, understanding the writer’s message and writing fluently.
