GREATER NOIDA: For the displaced
farmers of six villages that were acquired for the upcoming Jewar airport, MLA Dhirendra Singh has written to the
Yamuna Expressway Industrial
Development Authority (YEIDA) demanding a minimum 15% quota in residential, industrial and commercial land/plot schemes of the Authority as well as a relaxation in allotment rates.
While the demand is expected to be placed in the YEIDA board meeting on February 28, the Jewar MLA has also asked for land to build a community health centre and a school for the affected families. Notably, land from
Ranhera, Dayantpur, Rohi, Kishorepur, Parohi and Banwariwas villages was acquired for the Jewar Airport. "I have written to the YEIDA CEO for a fixed quota for displaced farmers of Jewar airport land in their residential, commercial and industrial plots schemes. I have demanded a 15% quota for these farmers," Dhirendra Singh, Jewar MLA, told TOI.
According to Singh, these steps will ensure proper rehabilitation of farmers who lost their means of livelihood due to the airport land acquisition. "After having lost their land for the airport project, it is our responsibility to ensure that they are rehabilitated properly. Hence, I have raised this demand to YEIDA and also with the chief minister," said Singh.
Two villages to be regularised A team of officials from the
Noida Authority visited two villages on Sunday and finally started their regularisation process. The villages - Morna and Badoli Bangar - are located in Sector 35 and Kasna, respectively. Hundreds of farmers have been protesting at the Authority's office over the past week.
