Worli man dies as SUV overturns on Pune Expressway, 6 hurt

NAVI MUMBAI: An SUV turtled on the Mumbai-bound carriageway of the Pune Expressway around 2pm on Saturday, killing one and injuring six others, including two minors. The car's front left tyre burst at the Khandala tunnel, which led to the car overturning.
Worli resident Sandesh Kusam (40), who was seated in the middle row, was flung out and crushed under the car. He was declared brought dead at the Pawana Hospital, Pune, said highway safety patrol (HSP) assistant inspector Prashant Mandle. The other six people in the car, including the driver, sustained minor injuries.
Kusam was returning to Mumbai with his family from a pilgrimage. In the car with him were his wife Sakshi (36), mother Vanita (72), daughter (11), son (6) and another relative. Kusam worked at a private bank.
A motor vehicle accident case was registered, said Khandala police constable Sanjay Shingade. The mishap caused a traffic snarl on the expressway for around 30 minutes, said HSP assistant inspector Shahji Mane.
1 dies, 6 injured in Goa highway mishap
An SUV crashed into the divider on the Goa highway at Nandgaon village, Kankavli, around 7am on Sunday, killing one and injuring six others. Aashish Arage (30) died on the spot, while the other six, including the driver Suhas Chavan (26) are being treated at private hospitals in Oros and Kolhapur. A case of causing death by negligence and rash driving was registered against Chavan.
