Metro’s Hingna depot to be ready by May end

Nagpur: MahaMetro’s Hingna car depot, where coaches used in Reach III (Sitabuldi to Lokmanya Nagar stretch) are parked at night, will be ready by May end. At present, it is half complete and facilities for parking the trains are available.
A MahaMetro spokesperson said that the depot has an area of 65 acres out of which 30.19 acres is utilized for the rolling stock maintenance work. The depot has twelve components: time and security office (TSO), auto coach wash plant (ACWP), traction substation (TSS), auxiliary substation (ASS), underground tank pump room, maintenance building, pit wheel lathe (PWL), engineering train unit (ETU), internal cleaning platform (ICP), unloading platform, stabling lines and biodigester.
The TSO is for the usage of security purposes as the depot is restricted for common citizens. It is complete. The ACWP is for the machineries of the wash plant bed where the train is washed from the outside. It is also complete. The TSS steps down 33 KV supply from MSEDCL to 25 KV. It is ready but the ASS, which steps down 33 KV to low tension (LT) level, is under construction.
The UG tank pump room will be used to provide water supply to different buildings inside the depot. It is under construction. The maintenance building is also under construction.
The under construction PWL will have a wheel-orientation machine where the wheel profile is checked on regular intervals. The ETU, which will be used to store the track machines rerailing equipment is complete.
The ICP will be used to clean the inside and underfloor of the rolling stock. Currently, this building is being used for maintenance of the rolling stock as the maintenance building is under construction. The unloading platform on which the new train is unloaded with the help of the unloading equipment is complete.
Work on the stabling lines where rolling stock is stabled, is under progress. Work has, however, not started on the biodigester.
