LUCKNOW: Panic spread at Ghantagahar clock tower after a man opened fire 200 meter away from the site of women staging anti-CAA protests at
Thakurganj on Sunday evening. The situation was however peaceful.
On the information, senior police officials including the additional deputy commissioner of police, assistant commissioner of police rushed to the spot.

Vikas Chandra Tripathi said that on the basis of preliminary investigations it has come to the fore that a group led by one Imran Haider and Kaleem Hussain of
Muftiganj and another group led Eraj were quarrelling over an issue pertaining to comment on a woman.
In the meantime, another
Mirza Fazal Baig, who was passing by took out his licenced pistol and fired a round.
“Mirza Afzal Baig and Imran Haider have been detained, in case no complaint is registered then police will register an
FIR,” said Tripathi.
He also said that the women protesters were safe and the area where the incident took place was 200 meters away from the
protest site.
The women are staging a peaceful protest from January 17, against anti-CAA at clock tower in
Hussainabad.
