Here’s What An Old Volvo Looks Like If You Peel Away The Paint

Is traditional paint not quite your style? Would you rather avoid the trend of wrapping your vehicle and instead have an exterior finish that’s totally unique? Well, this Volvo shows that’s possible, it just might take some time to perfect.

This bizarre Volvo was spotted out in public quite a while ago and shared on social media – we found it on Reddit. While we don’t even know what country these photos were snapped in, they reveal the car’s owner likely had a lot of spare time on their hands and wanted to stand out from the crowd.

Adorning the body of the Swedish sedan is what looks to be rubber or resin bricks and mortar, which might very well be the so-called “Clinker bricks“. Obviously, we’re not looking at normal sized (fake) bricks and instead, they appear to be just a few millimeters thick and are joined (or at least seem to be joined) together with mortar. Zoom in close and you could be forgiven for thinking you’re simply looking at a brick wall, not a car.

The owner’s attention to detail is very commendable as the brickwork isn’t just featured across the flat body panels of the Volvo, such as the hood and roof, but also wraps around the front and rear wheel arches. There are also a pair of decorative racing stripes running the length of the car.

There’s little doubt that this finish would weigh significantly more than a traditional paint scheme or even a wrap designed to mimic the look of a brick wall. Nevertheless, it certainly looks unique and makes this Volvo stand out. We have a sneaking suspicion, however, that vehicle brickwork like this won’t become a trend.
