LUCKNOW: Chief minister
Yogi Adityanath on Saturday pushed for the establishment of a Bhasha Vishvavidyalaya — a separate university dedicated to preservation and promotion of Indian languages, which will also help in generating
employment opportunities.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Bhasha Mahotsav -2020’ at
Lucknow University, Yogi said apart from establishing a Bhasha Vishvavidyalaya, other universities will have to launch courses relevant to industry needs.
“We can generate many employment opportunities with the help of Sanskrit and, practical knowledge of Hindi and English. Qualified teachers are required to teach Sanskrit and Hindi in universities across the world. Our universities can produce scholars to fulfill demand for such professionals,” he added Citing Varanasi’s Kashi Vishwanath temple as an example, Yogi said one who knows Sanskrit can never die in penury. “Many priests at the temple know Sanskrit and Hindi and have been trained as guides to help devotees from other countries in performing rituals. Now, these priests are earning between Rs 30,000 and Rs 1.50 lakh per month,” he added.
Talking about the beautification of the famous temple, the CM said that
Mahatma Gandhi had pointed out the unhygienic conditions of the lanes leading up to the temple when he visited the city about 100 years ago.
“Today, we are working to turn the temple into a ‘dham’ (a place of pilgrimage) by beautifying it,” he added.
