KOTTAYAM: With the preliminary hearing on the objection filed by the prosecution on the discharge
petition filed by
Bishop Franco Mulakkal in the nun
rape case to begin on Saturday, a statement of another nun, a witness in the case, has been out.
In the witness statement, the 35-year-old nun is explaining in detail how she was sexually exploited by the Bishop. Meanwhile, Police said that a case was not registered based on the witness statement as the nun did not want as she wanted to continue in the church.
Bishop Mulakkal is expected to appear before Additional District Court 1 Judge
G Gopakumar for the preliminary hearing on Saturday.
The survivor in the case had filed a complaint with the
Kottayam Police chief about the sexual abuse from 2014-16 on June 27, 2018. The next day, June 28 the statement of the survivor was also recorded.
The chargesheet in the
nun rape case was filed on April 9, 2019. Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who faces charges of wrongful confinement, rape, unnatural sex and criminal intimidation in the case, can get life imprisonment or imprisonment of not less than 10 years if proved guilty.
