Chandigarh crime branch busts gang of snatchers, 4 arrested

CHANDIGARH: Crime branch of UT police on Friday busted a gang of snatchers by arresting four people from different parts of the city. It also has claimed to solve two cases of snatching.
The cops also recovered four snatched mobile phones from the possession of the accused.
The accused are Jasbir Singh, 29 , a resident of Barnala, Kulwinder Singh, 20, a resident of Ferozepur, Ajay Kumar, 22, of Hissar, Haryana and Sonu, 20 , of Muktsar, Punjab.
Crime branch team received secret information that Jasbir and Kulwinder, involved in snatchings in the city were roaming near the Botanical garden at Sarangpur. A police team laid the trap and as the both accused reached there in their car, they were nabbed. During their search police recovered a snatched mobile phone from their possession.
Later, Jasbir Singh confessed before the cops that his two other accomplices Sonu and Ajay were also involved in the snatching of mobile phone at sector 47 on February 13. On their disclosure statement, the crime branch also arrested Sonu and Ajay from sector 45 and recovered other snatched mobile phones from them on Thursday.
Police also recovered two more mobile phones which were snatched from Mohali and other parts of Punjab.
Police said that accused Jasbir used to drive the car as a taxi . However, cops are verifying whether the car was attached with a cab company or not.
