Coaches of Sampark Kranti Express detached twice, passengers safe

BHUBANESWAR: Coaches of Anand Vihar Terminal (ANVT)-Bhubaneswar Sampark Kranti superfast express got detached twice on Friday. The first detachment of coaches occurred after the train left ANVT and next at Hathras station in Uttar Pradesh.
The train left ANVT at 7.06am and the coaches got detached at around 7.30 am on the outdoor of ANVT’s next station Sahibabad. An untoward incident was averted due to slow speed of the train. The Railway staff immediately checked the coaches and coupled it. Nobody was affected in the incident, railway sources said.
After the train passed around 148km from ANVT, coaches of the middle portion of the train again got detached before Hathras station in Uttar Pradesh. It happened at around 10am. Passengers got panicked with the second time detachment of coaches.
Some of the passengers shouted at the railway staff of the train for the inconvenience. “Coaches of the express train got detached for second time. It is scary. The railways should run train before making proper safety check,” said a Bhubaneswar-bound passenger.
Railway sources said the pantry car was detached at Tundla station in Uttar Pradesh because it had some problem. It is a case of uncoupling (detachment) of coaches.
East Coast Railway (ECoR) headquartered at Bhubaneswar said, “Though this news appears worrisome, we would like to inform all concerned that all passengers are safe and there is no cause for concern.”
The train was running late by around four hours. Scheduled arrival of the train at Bhubaneswar is 12.20 pm on Saturday.
