Honda appointed its European business chief, Inoue Katsushi, the new head of its China operations, effective April 1.
Katsushi will also become a managing officer, Honda said.
He joined Honda in 1984 and has been an operating officer at Honda in charge of its European unit since 2016.
Honda’s current China head, Mizuno Yasuhide, has been promoted to managing officer at the company’s Japan headquarters, starting in April.
Honda was one of the few global automakers to buck the downturn in the Chinese car market last year, with new-vehicle sales rising 8.4 percent to 1.55 million over 2018.
