Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, external affairs minister S Jaishankar, governor Banwarilal Purohit, chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Kerala have condoled the death of passengers in two accidents in the state.
“Extremely anguished by the bus accident ... In this hour of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families. I hope those who are injured recover at the earliest,” tweeted the Prime Minister.

“Pained at the tragic loss of lives in a bus accident in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. My heartfelt condolences to families of the deceased & prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident,” tweeted the speaker.

Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit and chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami condoled the death.
“I am shocked and grieved to hear about the accident occurred early morning between Kerala State Transport Corporation bus and a container lorry causing death of 20 persons and heavy injuries to others near Avinashi of Tirupur district,” the governor said.
I convey my deep condolences to the bereaved members of the families. I pray to God to rest departed souls in peace and to give strength to their families to overcome this unfathomable loss. I also pray to God for speedy recovery of all the injured, the governor said in a statement.
Palaniswami read out a statement in the assembly condoling the death. “The accident occurred after the container truck’s front tyre burst and the driver lost control and ramming the Kerala Transport bus,” Palaniswami said.
He said in another accident, six Nepalis on way to Rajasthan met with an accident in Krishnagiri district. “Several others who were injured have been admitted in hospital,” Palaniswami said.
