Pro-Pak slogan: Anti-CAA protest organisers reprint invite removing Amulya’s name

MANGALURU: Muslim Aikyatha Vedike, which has planned to organise a protest against CAA, NRC and NPR in the city, has reprinted the invitation by removing the name of teenage student-activist Amulya Leona Noronha.
Vedike’s protest against the citizenship law is scheduled to be held at Tipu Sultan Garden in Kudroli in the city on February 25. Initially, the organisers had printed the invitation brochures including Amulya’s name in the list of keynote speakers. Other speakers are Sri Janaprakasha Swamiji of Urilinga Peddi Math, Mysuru, B R Bhaskar Prasad, Ra Chinthan, Janab Muhammad Sakhib and Najma Nazeer. However, the organisers have removed Amulya’s name from the keynote speaker’s list after she was booked for sedition for shouting pro-Pakistan slogan in Bengaluru on Thursday. In the revised invitation, names of Sudheer Kumar Maroli, H I Sufyan Sakhafi, A K Kukkila, Ilyas Thumbe, K M Iqbal Balia and M G Muhammed have been added as keynote speakers.
Vedike president K Ashraf said the forum condemns the incident of Amulya shouting pro-Pakistan slogan. “We will not entertain any anti-national activities. Our objective is to make India united and there will be no place for those who shout pro-Pakistan slogans in our programme. Hence, we have reprinted the invitation by removing her name from it,” Ashraf said.

The organisers have named the protest venue after Nauseen Kudroli and Jaleel Bengre, who died in the police firing during an anti-CAA protest in Mangaluru on December 19. “We have decided to hold the protest with the slogan ‘Kudroli Chalo’ since Nauseen Kudroli and Jaleel Bengre belong to this region. The family members of Nauseen and Jaleel will also be taking part in the protest rally,” Ashraf said.
Over 5,000 people from Bunder, Kudroli, Kandak and other parts of the district will be gathering at the venue for the protest rally to be held between 2pm and 6pm. Arrangements have been made for women to take part in the protest, he said adding that a police permission for the protest rally has already been obtained.
