ALLAHABAD: Two men were arrested on Thursday, five days after they shot at a woman near Fathua village, under Sarayinayat police station.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Manzoor and Kamal Kumar Bharatiya, both residents of Jhunsi.
Inspector of Sarayinayat police station Surendra Kumar Pandey said the two had shot at Neelu Kushwaha in Fathua village over an old enmity. The accused had been on the run since and a case under sections 307 and 506 of the
Indian Penal Code was registered against them.
The inspector said the accused were arrested near Habusa turn on Thursday.
Police said Manzoor had been harassing the woman since a long time. When Neelu threatened to report him to the police, Manzoor and his aide shot at her and fled.
Police also seized a 0.315 bore countrymade pistol from them whihc was used in the attack.
Meanwhile, four men were arrested with 16 cows and a truck on Thursday, under Handia police station. The accused were identified as Mohd Narul Khan, Shabbu, Omar Mohammad and Mansoor Alam — all residents of Gaya in Bihar. The cows were to being taken to Bihar for being slaughtered.
