PUNE: The Vishrambaug police have formed a WhatsApp group of women students in Sadashiv, Narayan and Navi Peth areas to trace a man who travels on a scooter and flashes women in the three Peth areas.
The Vishrambaug and Dattawadi police stations have intensified vigil in the areas and urged students to share their feedback on the Whatsapp group if they spot the man again on the road.
Inspector Ram Rajmane of Vishrambaug Police Station told TOI, "The man flashes at women students walking on the road and flees from the scene on his scooter. We are trying to get the CCTV footage from cameras in the three Peth areas."
"There are many coaching classes and colleges in the area. Police teams visited the coaching classes, which basically trains MPSC and UPSC aspirants in the Peth areas. The teams contacted the women students and added their phone numbers in the group," he said.
"We showed the photographs of men involved in such activities previously, but the women students replied in negative. We have appealed to them to click the photograph of the man if they spot him again on the road and upload it on the group," he said.
Rajmane said that it is suspected that he has indulged in more such crimes in the three Peth areas.
