Police solve 21 cases of burglaries & vehicle theft

Pune: In a major crackdown by the officials of Wanawadi police station, two persons of a four-member gang involved in multiple cases of vehicle theft and burglaries across the city have been arrested.

Following the arrest, the police officials have solved 21 cases of burglary and theft and have also recovered booty worth Rs 1 crore from the arrested accused.

As per information shared by Police Inspector Krantikumar Patil of the Wanawadi police station, a team of Wanawadi police including policemen Nasir Deshmukh, Navnath Khatal, Raju Rasge, Yogesh Gaikwad, Sudhir Sonawane, Mahesh Kamble and Anup Sangle started perusing the case by going through CCTV footages of 34 incidents of burglary and theft in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune rural areas.

“While going through the videos of thefts in jewellery shops, policemen Nasir Deshmukh and Navnath Khatal spotted two suspects who were residents of Vaidwadi in Hadapsar. Accordingly, we formed a team and arrested two persons in the case,” added Krantikumar Patil.

Accused have been identified as Tilak Singh Tak (28) and Jai Singh Juni (26). During interrogation, the duo revealed the details about their partners and the person who would buy the stolen 
ornaments.

Police said that Vikisingh Kalyani from Ramtekdi and Sunnysingh Dudhani assisted arrested accused in the crimes.

Dudhani and Kalyani are on a run while Bandu Waghmare (35), who would buy the stolen ornaments, has been arrested, police said.

Police said the suspects also used stolen vehicles to commit burglaries. They have recovered 109 kg of silver, 200 gram of gold, 8 vehicles and Rs 27,000 cash from the arrested accused.

The crimes were committed in the jurisdiction of Wanawadi, Hadapsar, Kondhwa, Mundhwa, Yerwada, Sinhagad, Wakad, Hinjawadi, Chinchwad, Chikali, Loni Kalbhor and Saswad areas.
