Doctor abducted & robbed by four, dropped at metro station with Rs 200 for ride

Noida: A 27-year-old doctor of alternative medicine returning to his hometown in Moradabad after wedding shopping in Noida was allegedly held captive by four men in a car early on Wednesday morning and robbed of Rs 12,000 and some fancy dresses he had bought for his would-be parents-in-law.
Abdul Rehman, who took a lift offered by the four from Sector 37 around 6.45 am, was abused all along before being dumped near the City Center metro station some 15-20 minutes later. Despite immediately alerting the cops, the Sector 39 police took nearly seven hours to register an FIR for robbery.
“I was waiting for a Moradabad-bound bus near the Noida Metro Rail Corporation bus parking bay in Sector 37 when the white car, without a registration number, stopped near me. Four men in their late 20s offered me a lift till Moradabad,” Rehman told TOI.
As chances of getting a bus appeared slim, Rehman got into the car. “They headed towards the City Center metro station and after covering about 200 metres asked me for my wallet and bag. They claimed it was a government vehicle and checking was likely to happen. They had also asked me if I was carrying alcohol bottles,” he said.
As Rehman got suspicious, the four started abusing him. “They also threatened to shoot me and soon overpowered me and snatched my bag containing some fancy dresses and my wallet containing Rs 12,000. But before dumping me near the City Centre metro station, they gave me Rs 200,” he said.
Rehman said he had bought the clothes for the family of his would-be wife. His wedding is slated after Holi next month.
Though Rehman had made an emergency call to 112 around 7am from his mobile phone, “cops kept me waiting till 2 pm at the Sector 39 police station to lodge an FIR under IPC Section 392”.
Police suspect the role of the gangs which have previously been involved in such kind of crimes. “The victim, in this crime, did not raise an alarm after being dumped. Some gangs are active and we are trying to identify them,” Sector 39 SHO Neeraj Malik said.
