Range Of Tesla Model Y Performance Rated At 315 Miles By EPA

The 2020 Tesla Model Y Performance has been officially rated with an EPA-estimated range of 315 miles (507 km).

When first announced, Tesla claimed the Model Y Performance would be good for 280 miles (450 km) of range on a charge, but the EPA’s official fuel economy site has confirmed the electric crossover is a little more efficient than that.

Announced alongside the estimated total range is an official MPGe rating of 129 city, 112 highway, and 121 combined. This combined 121 MPGe figure makes the Model Y Performance the most efficient electric crossover/SUV on the market, beating out the Hyundai Kona Electric that’s rated at 120 MPGe combined.

Curiously, the other Tesla Model Y variant that will be available to customers, dubbed the Long Range, has yet to be rated by the EPA. Tesla estimates the Model Y Long Range as having a total range of 315 miles (507 km), the same as the Model Y Performance. There’s every chance this figure will prove accurate as both the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Model 3 Long Range are rated at the same 322 miles (518 km) of range.

Tesla started production of the Model Y in late January at its factory in Fremont, California, months ahead of schedule. The first customer deliveries are expected to commence in March. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has ambitious goals for the Model Y and believes it will outsell the Model 3, Model S, and Model X combined.
