KOTTAYAM: A music teacher, accused in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) case, was found hanging from a tree near his house in Vaikom on Thursday. The body of Narendra Babu (51), an Arattukulangara native, was found hanging on the premises of a volleyball court.
Babu had pinned papers on to the net of the court in which he had written extensively that he was innocent and was not involved in the case.
He had also put up the copies of the complaints the students had raised against him and the letters written to the district collector, district police chief and the magistrate. The case was based on a complaint by 14 students of the school. His relatives said that Babu was innocent and that he was framed in the case due to some other issues. He was active in cultural activities and was quite popular in the locality. Locals said Babu had a large number of students and was going through depression after serving in the jail for 45 days. The funeral was held in the evening.
