3-day DMCH cultural fest kicks off in style

Ludhiana: The three-day cultural festival ‘Ectopia-2020’ kickstarted with an impressive inaugural ceremony by DMCH managing society secretary Prem Kumar Gupta. Five different MBBS batches from 2015 to 2019 will participate in the event. Ectopia’s theme this year is Hakuna Matata, which means ‘no worries’, or ‘no problem’ in Swahili. The mascot of the three-day festival ‘Timon & Pumbaa’ was also released.
The events on the first day included ‘Turn Coat Extempore’ (a style of debating in which an individual is given a certain amount of time to speak either in favour or against a particular topic), ‘Dance Off’ (in which students perform thrilling dance performances on hit Bollywood and Punjabi song numbers), ‘Ad Fads/Stand Up Comedy’ (in this segment, participants of a particular MBBS batch are given a fixed time to conceptualise an advertisement on any product, and present it to the audience in a hilarious manner), and ‘Treasure Hunt’ (a game in which players are given a series of clues to direct them to win a hidden prize).
Present on the occasion were principal Dr Sandeep Puri (dean, Academics), Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina (medical superintendent), Dr Ashwani Chaudhary, and other faculty members. Principal Puri (who is also chairperson of the DMCH cultural committee) said Ectopia was personally very close to his heart, and with every passing year, it is presented in a new form and on a different theme, with more exciting and thrilling performances. Dr Dinesh Jain (DMCH cultural committee secretary), and Dr Navjot Bajwa (DMCH cultural committee convenor) congratulated all participants, and told the audience to enjoy the festival with full excitement.
The results of the competitions are as follows: Turncoat Extempore — 1st Sonam (batch 2016), 2nd Soumya (batch 2018), and 3rd Alamnoor (batch 2018); Ad Fads — 1st MBBS batch 2018, 2nd MBBS batch 2016, and 3rd MBBS batch 2016; Dance Off — 1st Himanshi (batch 2018), 2nd Tanisha (batch 2018), and 3rd Nuhaar (batch 2015) and Manpreet (batch 2017).
