Zama to speak on mine workers’ occupational diseases

Nagpur: Secretary general of the Indian National Mineworkers’ Federation (INMF) affiliated to INTUC Union, SQ Zama will speak on occupational diseases faced by the employees working in mines at an international event organized at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between February 25 and 27.
INMF-INTUC is affiliated to Industrial Global Union with its headquarters at Geneva (Switzerland). On invitation from Australia’s largest trade union— Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU), Zama left for the Gold Coast.
In a press release issued here, spokesperson of the union, Ateeque Ghazi said, “Zama has been invited as the only expert trade union representative from India on occupational, health, safety and slow death caused to the mining workers out of pneumoconiosis, silicosis, manganese poisoning etc which are caused due to dust generated during mining activities. The conference will be attended by representatives from many fields, including coal, mining, trade union, health professional, lawyers, academics and government representatives from major mining countries, including USA, Russia, Ukraine, Colombia, Indonesia, Mongolia, South Africa, Philippine and many African and Latin American Countries. The three-day conference may device a system to combat the occupational disease by use of modern technology, including digitalization and artificial intelligence.”
