Nigerian arrested with cocaine worth Rs 34 lakh

Pune: The officials of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Pune police Crime Branch have arrested a Nigerian national who was allegedly found in possession of 341.2 grams of banned drug cocaine worth Rs 34 lakh on Thursday in Handewadi area of Hadapsar.

As per information shared by Police Inspector Vijay Tikole of the Anti-Narcotics Cell, Police Sub Inspector Hemant Dhole had received a tip-off that the accused will be passing via Handewadi area in possession of the contraband.

Accordingly, a trap was laid and the accused Valentine alias James Dsouza (28) was arrested by the team of ANC.

Police officials have seized the contraband from the accused. Police officials are investigating the source of the contraband and also the visa details of the Nigerian national.

The accused has been booked under sections of Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
