Sursagar is all decked up and ready for its inauguration on Friday, on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. The venue will also witness a Maha
Aarti of the Sarveshwar Mahadev idol in the pond that will be performed at the culmination of Shivji Ki Savari procession.
The chariot procession will carry with it the family of Lord Shiva sitting on Nandi. The grand statue has Shiva along with Goddess Parvati and their sons Ganesha and Kartikeya. Narad Muni will also accompany the family on the chariot.
The procession will begin from the Ranmukteshwar Temple in Pratapnagar and culminate at Sursagar after meandering through various areas in the city. Floats of 14 government departments will also participate in the procession apart from various other private organisations.
Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) officials are working overtime to ensure that Sursagar is ready for the aarti as well as for its inauguration. City police in large numbers along with sniffer dogs and equipment scanned the entire surroundings of the pond as Union home minister
Amit Shah is scheduled to attend the grand event along with chief minister Vijay Rupani and other dignitaries.
The civic body has been testing lightings on the boundary of the pond as well as illumination of the grand Sarveshwar Mahadev idol in the centre and other heritage monuments in area. Work is expected to get over late on Thursday night.
