The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for rain

"20 to 30mm is likely to fall widely over higher ground with the potential for 60 to 80mm in a few places.

"Given the recent wet conditions this brings a chance of flooding."

The Met Office said that the weather could cause homes and businesses being flooded, with some damage being caused as a result.

They added that fast flowing or deep floodwater was possible, with the chance of some communities being cut off by flooded roads.

There could also be delays and cancellations on public transport, difficult driving conditions, road closures and the chance of power cuts to some homes and businesses.

The wet weather will be accompanied by strong winds on Friday evening, with gusts of up to 70mph.

The unsettled conditions are set to remain into the weekend, with more strong winds and heavy showers.
