After new name, now code initials for Prayagraj Junction

ALLAHABAD: Following the Union home ministry’s approval and subsequent notification issued by the state government on Thursday evening, Allahabad Junction will henceforth be known as Prayagraj Junction.
Three more railway stations located within city limits — Allahabad City, Allahabad Chheoki and Prayagghat — have been renamed as Prayagraj Rambagh, Prayagraj Chheoki and Prayagraj Sangam, respectively.
While Prayagraj Junction and Prayagraj Chheoki come under the jurisdiction of North Central Railway (NCR), Prayagghat Sangam and Prayagraj Rambagh fall under Northern Railway (NR) and North Eastern Railway (NER), respectively.
Public relations officer of NCR Amit Malviya said they were incorporating the new names for regular use. “New codes are being allotted to the stations and change in passenger reservation system (PRS) has also been advised,” he said, adding that signboards would be altered at the earliest.
The code initials for Prayagraj Junction will be PYRJ, which was earlier ALD for Allahabad Junction. Similarly, code initials for Prayagraj Chheoki will be PCOI against ACOI for Allahabad Chheoki.
In October 2018, the state government had renamed the historic city of Allahabad as Prayagraj and following the notification, all government departments also adopted the new name.
