It is learnt that the Doha dope testing laboratory where India has been sending samples has told the authorities (National Anti-Doping Agency and ministry) that the number is too high. It is understood that last month 500 samples were sent and the laboratory said it will not be able to handle so many. Apparently, the Doha laboratory wants India to cut it down to half.
The sports ministry initially wanted to send the samples to Bangkok as well but since that centre’s ban in November, they have not been able to do it. The other country offering cheaper options is China, which is ruled out because of coronavirus. As of now, though the cost is high, Australia is an option. Despite sending samples abroad for testing, the budget has not been affected as yet.
