Tamil Nadu: Man, 28, gets 8-year RI for raping cousin

CUDDALORE: A special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012, cases on Tuesday sentenced a 28-year-old man to eight years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting his minor cousin.
District judge (Pocso) K Karunanithi also slapped a penalty of 2,000 on the man, identified as T Palanivel, from a village near Neyveli in Cuddalore district.
According to special public prosecutor K Selvapriya (Pocso cases) the victim, a Class IX dropout, used to stay alone at home after her parents, both brick kiln labourers, left for work.
Her cousin Palanivel, a daily-wage labourer, learning that the girl was alone during the day, visited her house on February 12, 2018, and sexually assaulted her.
Palanivel escaped after threatening her to not reveal the incident to anyone, else he will harm her and her parents.
