Kolkata: A 16-year-old boy appearing for class 10 examination this year was arrested on Wednesday for making a TikTok video of his English question paper and sharing in on social media in West Bengal. According to the police, the boy clicked the pictures of the English paper, edited on TikTok and uploaded it online, The Times of India reported.

The incident happened in Malda district’s Baidyanathpur High School in Ratua police limits where the boy, shortly after the examination began, clicked pictures of three pages of the English question paper while being seated in the exam hall, edited on Tiktok app and added a Bollywood song for its background music and circulated online.

The alleged question paper that was posted online by the boy showing some multiple-choice questions and questions for brief answers started making rounds on social media within an hour after the examinations begin at 12pm.

The incident created chaos among parents and students as they questioned the level of security at the examination centre, where, as per rules, neither students nor teachers are allowed to carry any kind of electronic gadgets into the halls.

An official from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) said that very few questions in the alleged video matched with the actual question paper. As the board examination question papers carry the WBBSE emblem which is embossed on the top, sources said that question paper seen in the alleged video did not carry one.

According to the officials, the superintendent of police is investing the case and security lapses that occurred in the examination centre. The authorities also suspended the internet services in some areas near schools in near 42 blocks of the state to avoid further malpractices.

Sources said that WBBSE president Kalyanmoy Roy will meet the education minister of the state Partha Chaterjee to "discuss attempts in some quarters to create confusion during the exams and discredit the board and the state government."

Meanwhile, the boy has been barred from appearing for the rest of the examination and has been expelled. Police said that he will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Thursday.
