A row of shops was taped off by police after reports of an armed robbery at a bookies.
Armed police descended on Chester Road in Garden Village, Wrexham, just before 7pm on Wednesday February 19.
Officers closed off Chester Road and Kenyon Avenue following the incident which is believed to have happened at Coral bookmakers.
It is understood that the suspects entered the shop on Chester Road and threatened staff with a weapon - however this has not been confirmed by police yet.
It is not clear if anything was taken - and it is understood no staff members were hurt, but they were left shaken by the altercation.
Witnesses reported a heavy police presence with officers carrying guns and crime scene investigation teams dressed in white suits.
Onlookers also claimed that a motorcycle could be seen in the middle of the road and appeared to have either crashed or been abandoned.
Police urged people to avoid the area due to the "ongoing incident".
North Wales Police tweeted: "ROADS CLOSURE : Chester Road and Kenyon Avenue in Garden Village are closed while we deal with an ongoing incident. Please use alternative routes if possible. Thank you."
The force has not issued any further update on the nature of the incident.
The police tape was taken down at around 9.20pm and both roads re-opened shortly afterwards.
