CHENNAI: The price of the platform tickets at Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Chennai Central Railway Station will be increased from Rs 10 to 15 for a period of three months, from April 1 to June 30.
An official release said this had been done keeping the peak summer traffic in view and to decongest platforms.
In March 2015, the Railway Board increased platform tickets price from Rs 5 to Rs 10 and delegated the powers to divisions to increase the platform ticket beyond Rs 10 to regulate rush during any specific occasion. This present increase in platform ticket price is done in accordance with power delegated by Railway Board.
Platform tickets are available for passengers at the counter near gate No 5 of the Chennai Central, the booking office at Moore Market Complex and at the end of the platform number 1 (on the Wall Tax Road side).
