4.2 lakh students to sit for Kerala SSLC examination
The examination for 2019-20 academic year would be over by March 26.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Preparations are nearing completion for the conduct of Kerala SSLC examination for the academic year 2019-20. Distribution of hall tickets to candidates appearing for Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination under Kerala board would be over by February 24. Over 4.2 lakh students have been registered for the year's state board exam which is slated to begin on March 10.
The examination for 2019-20 academic year would be over by March 26. The school final examination is offered in four languages, such as Malayalam, English, Tamil and Kannada. There are examinations in nine subjects and the score obtained by candidates in the continuing evaluation would also be taken into account while calculating the final marks of students. While the ratio of marks allotted between written examination and CE is 80:20 for English, Mathematics, Social Sciences and 40:10 for other papers, excluding information technology. The score for IT is fixed as 10:10:30 for continuing evaluation, theory and practical test.
The duration of examinations with score 80 and 40 are 2.5 hours and 1.5 hours respectively. Apart from this, there will be 15 minutes cool-off time before all examinations. Score of the candidates will not be written in the SSLC certificate as the examination is held on a (9) nine-point grading scale. Candidates who score a grade value of 9 would be eligible for A+ grade. Likewise, it would be A, B+, B, C+, C , D+ and D for candidates scoring 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 grades in the valuation.
Around 48 percent students who are about to sit for the examination would be writing it in English medium. While the number of students appearing for SSLC examination this year is 4, 22 347, those who have opted English medium among them are 2, 01, 259 . Students pursuing Malayalam medium are 2, 17, 184 . Number of students writing the examination in Tamil medium are 2377 and number of students pursuing Kannada medium are 1527.
